When Johann Pachelbel composed his Canon in the seventeenth century, he could have had little idea that his masterpiece would, over the years, come to be regarded as the very epitome of calm. This is surely one of the most therapeutic pieces of music ever composed, and now two marvellously soothing and uplifting arrangements of Pachelbel's Canon are presented together on this inspirational disc from Kevin Kendle and Llewellyn.

Updating the Canon with a New Age twist, Kendle's vision "Source to Sea" takes the listener on a journey from the source of a stream which sparkles through verdant forests on its way to the sea, complete with natural sounds of birdsong and water that beautifully complement the tranquil wash of the original music.

When this stage of the journey is complete, Llewellyn's arrangement "By the Shore" concentrates on the beauty and majesty of the sea itself, creating a soundscape which captures perfectly a lazy day spent on a secluded beach, seagulls wheeling overhead and the sun glittering on distant waves? Featuring strings, flutes, and ethereal vocal harmonies courtesy of Juliana, this is perfect music for meditation, quiet reflection or simply for letting all that stress just drain away after a taxing day.
